You need to go to the college that will give you the most opportunities.
If schools are known for certain majors that means that they have a great curriculum for that class. This also means they are known for their students getting internships and jobs at top companies for that specific major.
There are so many opportunities that arise in college that you don’t even know about yet. Make sure that you place yourself somewhere that will help you get where you want to be in life.
Engineering is such a popular major right now that you might be confused about which places are the best to go for this type of degree. Of course, in the end, there is a lot that goes into choosing a school including location, size, price, etc.
Another important thing to remember when researching colleges and majors is that there is always a chance you might switch majors once you get to school.
Most college students switch their majors at least once or twice, so make sure that the school your choosing isn’t only good for engineering. You want to be able to have other options and receive a good education no matter what your major is.

If you are planning on attempting to go here for a graduate program, there are fifteen highly ranked areas where you are able to earn degrees.
MIT is also a big research facility and there are almost twenty research centers on campus. You can get involved in many different types of research including cancer and ocean engineering.

Carnegie Melon University

This school does their engineering different than most schools because each engineering student is to complete their engineering degree in conjunction with other departments in Carnegie Mellon.
There are ten different engineering programs to choose from and you can decide between course-based or research-based degrees.
Ph.D. programs are also offered in almost all engineering programs. Carnegie Mellon also offers engineering students the option to study and research in Japan, Chile, and Portugal.
Students who are looking to get their masters can also take an accelerated master’s program that only takes a year to complete.

This university offers seventeen different paths that lead to a Bachelor of Science in engineering degree. There are also many other opportunities including honors programs and undergraduate research.
You can also receive your masters and doctorate degrees engineering at this university.
University of California- Berkley

University of California, Berkley is located in Berkley, California and is a public research university.

There are also eight different areas that students can pursue master’s degrees. All of the graduate programs offered at this school typically will take two years to complete. This way if you want to get your master after an undergraduate degree, you can try to apply to stay at Berkeley.
Berkley gives students the opportunity to be involved in hands-on research and experience in design and prototyping.
They also have a center for entrepreneurship and technology which allows students to learn how they can launch new ventures and companies after they graduate.
There are over forty research centers where students can get involved in research on any level. Being able to participate in research is so important, informational, and beneficial as a student.

There are over fifteen different options for specializations in undergraduate engineering at this school and over twelve different programs for graduate students.
Purdue was ranked by USA News number eight in best engineering schools, number one in biological and agricultural engineering, and fifth in aerospace, aeronautical, and astronautical engineering.
One of the most notable alumni from this university is Neil Armstrong who was the first man on the moon. The overall student body at Purdue is currently 75.8% male and 24.2% female.
University of Pennsylvania

The University of Pennsylvania is a private ivy league school in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and is a research university. There are over twelve research labs that students can do any type of research at including nanotechnology, robotics, and computer graphing.

Penn offers over ten different engineering degrees along with several dual program degrees through the school of engineering. They strongly encourage students to have a dual degree to make them a more rounded student.
You can even minor in engineering entrepreneurship which is a new option that explores the entrepreneurial world of engineering.
They have several special minors specifically for engineering majors that explore different areas that many engineering students may want to delve into further.
There is also a program where you can start your law degree in your fourth year of college. They have had many engineering students participate in this program.
Overall there are so many different schools in each state that have great engineering programs that I didn’t even mention.
Engineering has become increasingly more popular, so it shouldn’t be a problem to find a good school for engineering in a location that suits your needs.
It is important to understand that if you are going to go into engineering you are going to be taking several high-level math and sciences courses Before you decide to choose this major, make sure that you are prepared to be dedicating your four years to these difficult classes.
Especially when you’re going to higher-level academic schools, your classes are going to be increasingly harder. The schools above are top schools for engineering that are very hard to get into.
However, there are many schools throughout the U.S. that I didn’t get to mention that have similarly great academics that are easier to get into.
Don’t stress if you don’t get into your top schools for engineering because there are so many different great options. Your engineering degree is going to get you a good job no matter which engineering school you go, so don’t stress yourself out too much.
Engineering is a great major to go into and you will be successful if you do your research and put the work in.
