Is an Associate’s Degree Worth It?

Is An Associates Degree Worth It-900

With the rise in  people going to college in the rise in the need of a degree to get a job, many people are looking into different types of college degrees that they can get.

The typical four-year degree can leave you with a lot of debt if you go away to school and you don’t receive any grants, scholarships, aid, etc. This is why a lot of people have been looking into associate’s degrees.

Associate’s degrees are usually known as two-year degrees. There are many colleges that are known for only handing out two-year associate degrees/ These schools are normally some sort of community college.

Getting an associate’s degree is an awesome way to get yourself into a successful career while saving time and money by only going to school for two years. Another great aspect of an associate’s degree is that you can always go back to school to get a higher degree.

Is it Better to Get an Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree?

Getting certain degrees really depends on which career path you are looking for. Certain degrees require a certain amount of schooling. For instance, if you are interested in being some sort of doctor you cannot simply just go to undergraduate school.

If you want to be a doctor you have to go to more than four years of schooling which means going to another four years of medical school and so on. Which degree you end up going for is really just going to determine which job you’re going to end up getting.

There are certain jobs where you must get a four-year degree in order to have them. However, there are a lot of jobs that only require an associate’s degree.

It is really not better in essence to get either one it really just depends on which career path you are looking into getting in. And once again, if you do go get an associate’s degree and you realize that you want to take your career step further you are always able to go back and get another degree.

The only things look into regarding which degree to get in the opportunities that you have could possibly be whether or not you wanted to live on campus.

Some schools that only give out associate’s degrees do not have any on-campus living because they usually smaller or a community college or some universities that give out mostly for years degrees and some associate’s degrees do not give housing to students with associate’s degrees.

If you are interested in getting the college experience of living on campus, then this could be something that could’ve her your opinion or your choice. Also whether or not you’re going away to school could factor into your choice.

There are obviously more opportunities regarding career fairs, networking, clubs, etc. a normal four-year university. However, these things do not determine how successful your career is and they are really only up to each individual person once it means. The time and money saved could definitely make up for these types of losses.

What Kind of Jobs Can I Get with an Associate Degree?

Some of the most common jobs that go along with getting an associate’s degree or careers like physical therapy assistant, occupational therapy assistant, ultrasound technicians, radiology technicians, dental hygienists, veterinary technicians, and legal assistants.

It is also a good idea to look up the universities that you are interested in and see what kind of associate’s programs they offer or vice versa look up the associate’s programs that you were interested in and see what universities are offered at.

These types of jobs help you assist doctors, therapists, lawyers, veterinarians, dentists, etc. They are great jobs to  have a pay pretty decently and allow you to have the benefits of working in those types of firms or offices.

What is the Highest Paying Associate Degree Job?

Because the salaries can differ so much from state to state because of the differences in minimum-wage, the salaries for specific majors and careers are definitely going to change a lot depending on where you live.

Another thing that goes into consideration is the demand for specific jobs and majors within certain locations. Some locations of the country are in desperate need of certain jobs and majors where they are overbooked in others.

These types of things really going to consider when considering how much money you’re going to make a specific career.

It is always a good idea to research what the best locations for the higher salaries are and where the locations are the need the most of whatever job you’re looking into.

Without being said here’s a little look into what is considered the highest paying job with an associate’s degree currently.

Currently, the highest-paid job but you can get with an associate’s degree is an air traffic controller. A typical air traffic controller will either get an associate or a bachelor’s degree from some sort of AT – CTI program.

Normally they also have three years of work experience or some sort of combination of both. What this means is that companies will hire candidates who have associate degrees and bachelor’s degrees.

In essence, the candidates with a bachelor’s degree may have a better chance of getting the job, however, you can make up for that with your responsible work experience before you apply to your dream company.

Like I said earlier, the salaries can really change depending on locations and job demands, but the average salary of an air traffic controller is currently around $100,000.

Obviously, this job comes with a lot of responsibility, so the people who are looking into going to school for this should make sure that it is something that they would feel they could manage and be responsible for.

What Associate’s Degrees Lead to Jobs that are in High Demand?

As I mentioned earlier, salaries can really depend on where the jobs are in demand. Getting a job in the entire recruitment process can also really depend on what locations are demanding the job that you were trying to get.

This is something that a lot of current college graduates I’ve had a lot of problems with. Since a lot of people are going to school for the same things, a lot of times her dream job isn’t really on-demand where they are currently located.

With that being said, here are some jobs that you can get with an associate’s degree that is currently in high demand across the country:

  • Radiation therapists
  • Cardiovascular technicians
  • Physical and occupational therapy assistants
  • Dental hygienists
  • Respiratory therapists
  • Web Developers
  • Medicine technologists

What’s the Easiest Associate’s Degree to Get?

Every degree and every class in college is difficult. It is not like high school where you can breeze by, almost fail, and still get a diploma. However, there are some degrees that have harder course loads than others.

There are some degrees that simply just require a little more work outside of the classroom than others. It is important to know yourself, your determination, and how much work you can handle before getting yourself into a degree.

Here are some examples of degrees that lead to successful jobs, but are a little easier in the classroom. It is still important to understand that no matter what you major in during college, you’re going to have to put the time and effort in.

You will never successfully get your degree and get a career if you do not do so. The first job that you get after college graduation is going to be paying attention to her grades, transcripts, and activities during college so make sure you put the time and effort and that needs to be done so that you can enjoy your dream job.
