Although the MCAT does not tell medical schools if you will become a good or excellent doctor.

If it has been shown that the MCAT generally predicts the applicant’s probability of being successful in taking the Medical Licensing Examination.

The American Medical Association (AMA) in a recent publication indicates that for medical students who enrolled in the 2018-2019 academic year the average score was 511.2 on the MCAT.

According to the AMA, students who had scored in the average range (510-513) had a 98% chance of advancing from freshman to sophomore year.

This probability decreases slightly, from 98% to 94% for those students who scored in the range of 498 to 501 on the MCAT.

In other words, the medical schools are going to be using the score obtained in the MCAT in conjunction with your grade point average, to know if the student is prepared to enter medical school and be successful.
